I liked my chair a lot but found myself slouching. I hope that the back would help that and it certainly has. I would highly recommend it for those who feel they need more help sitting up straight.I bought it for my bf, without it, he is sometimes tired during the day and need to switch back to normal chair, with this stick, he can lean on and rock, he feels more comfortable and more funJust installed and I love my varier chair even more now.Backrest came with simple installation booklet. Chair must be fully disassembled again. The little wooden knobs were stuck when the chair was originally installed so I needed pliers to remove.Without this back attachment I could only sit for a few hours. Adding this allows me to work all day, everyday in a kneeling position. Totally worth it and we’ll made just like the chair.I bought both chair and back.The back increases the many ways one can use the chair. The back really makes me sit up straight and it makes rocking back in the chair easy. I can lean back from the computer hold my hand behind my back and arch and stretch. I have been pain free for hours before my computer. That is a first in months! I design and build furniture and this is well designed and constructed. I do wish that a few words were used in the instructions, and not just pictures.Seemed like a good idea for back support but it ruins your ability to scoot back to position yourself correctly on the chair. With this installed I was unable to reposition myself far enough back to get to the ~20% weight on my knees recommended. All my weight was forced on my knees and it made the chair pretty uncomfortable. I’d recommend the chair itself, I believe its well worth the price, but go without this additional piece.The back cushion doesn't stay in place and keeps sliding out. Perhaps mine is defective?The item arrived clearly used in a Varier box with original shipping labels cut out of the box. Inside the box, the backrest had pilling and spots that made it look like it had been previously used. The wood bar part of the backrest had markings indicating it had previously been installed on a chair and then disassembled. This was almost ok until I realized the assembly hardware in the box was missing pieces needed for assembly.
