So I purchased this to get my keyboard off my home desk as, like a lot of folks, I am doing a lot more "office" work vs. Internet surfing or game playing. I did a LOT of on-line research and finally settled on this under-desk keyboard tray and, in general, I'm happy with the purchase.First, its very sturdy. I was worried about the keyboard tray wobbling as I type and it's very solid. You do have to screw it into the underside of your desk but that is what helps ensure that it's stable. I'm very happy with how stable it is. On a scale of 1 - 10, if "super bouncy" was a "1" and "solid as the desk itself" was a 10, I'd give this a 9 easy.Once it's installed, all you can really do is slide it in and out and the sliders provided seem well made and solid. No complaints there. The sliders get more resistant at each end of their range to keep the keyboard locked into the open or closed position (not a snap, per se, more like it just meets resistance). In the middle of its range, it can slide with a push.I have an 18 inch wide keyboard and it fits just fine but you only get about 6" for the mouse (about 6" by 8"). For me this is fine and I've played Doom Eternal and No Man's Sky just fine with this setup. I do a lot of work in Lightroom but haven't tried that yet. But be aware you have a smaller area for the mouse unless you get a smaller keyboard. It comes with a wrist rest and I've tried using it and not using it. My keyboard comes with a wrist rest built in so, for now, I'm not using it but I can see it would be useful on a different keyboard. The mousepad that comes with it is rubber and I didn't like it so I don't use it. I put my metal mousepad in the tray and, while it's too big to fit "next" to the keyboard, I can put the keyboard on top of the mousepad so it overlaps. It's not ideal but it works and doesn't wobble. With regard to the install, you need a helper to hold the tray up against the underside of the desk while you screw it into the desk. You will need a drill and safety glasses and be prepared to work on your back unless your desk is "new" and you can flip it over. This is awkward but, again, once it's in, it's very sturdy. As other's have mentioned, make sure when choosing the distance between the desk and tray that you account for mouse and keyboard height. But you also need to account for distance between the bottom of the tray and the top of your legs. My desk is 29" tall and I had to lower my chair (and subsequently my monitor height) to make it work. You will also end up sitting further back from your monitor (about 10 inches or so depending on where you mount it) so take that into consideration as well. I would imagine this is true for any under-desk keyboard tray.If I want to, I can just move my wireless keyboard and mouse back on my desk if there are scenarios where that makes more sense and use the tray for storage and typing. Having my desk clear is nice.I also have a support under my desk in the center that runs back to front. This product doe not attach to the desk in the center (like so many desk-mount trays are) so I was able to ensure that the tray cleared that support. Finally, I had to install it off center to my desk (over to the right a bit) in order for my keyboard to be, more or less, center with my monitor. Seems to me, in order for the tray to be in the center of the desk, it would have to be wider so that you'd have equal space (on both sides) for a mouse.Overall I'm satisfied with what I got for the price. My main concern was sturdiness and it meets that requirement.Based on the rating subjects, here's my review:Ergonomics: This keyboard tray comes with a wrist pad for your keyboard and mouse pad. The quality of each is less than optimal, the bottoms aren't sticky or create friction in nearly any way. I'm pretty sure they were designed under the assumption they wouldn't have any room to move in the first place. The wrist pad is foam I'm almost positive. Fairly comfortable, however nothing to write home about. They work, just low quality. The package also comes with a handy little system for figuring out your ideal space. More or that in installation. Overall it's ergonomic in terms of making it easier to fine tune exactly where you want your keyboard, but if you are planning on using this for gaming, don't, unless you have a small form factor keyboard. Minimalistic, which most gamers I know usually go balls to the wall and grab a keyboard with extra macro buttons, usually making it wider. This leads to less room for the mouse, therefore making it hard to use a mouse without risk of bumping the left click (unless you're using high dpi) or other thumb buttons depending on the mouse you are using.Easy to Install: this depends on how you plan on installing it in the first place. I would honestly recommend flipping your desk upside down to get this thing on, because I'm just a dumb dumb and I had to contort my body to hold this thing up with my feet while I screwed it in (don't like asking for help, but if you want to install it without flipping your desk, ask for assistance). The instructions were clear, assembly is definitely required. There was this nifty spacing system they implemented to figure out your ideal spacing between the tray and your desk. I really liked this, however I have skinny hands, and opted to try the lowest, most spacious setting. I'm not sure if the intention was to be able to use your keyboard while the tray is under your desk, but I'm telling you right now that not happening. Comfortably anyway. I'd say there's about exactly my hand width of spacing at the lowest setting between the desk and my keyboard, but again, that could be because I'm using a gaming keyboard.Sturdiness: This is.... surprisingly strong. I gave it a 4 out of 5 because the place where the screws go directly into the tray is simply holes... In the tray. The kind of holes that are cylindrical on the outside. Now I have already accidentally and purposely tested pushing down on it, it has taken quite a bit and still going strong. I have a feeling though that eventually it will snap at those joints, but there's not much more you can ask for a price point like it has.My overall impression is:If you are using his for a home office or you only use your computer for generic purposes, then this tray is great if you don't care about high quality mouse pads and wrist rests. It's wider than most others apparently at the time of purchasing, however. If you are a gamer like me, you will end up using this thing as a slide out TV tray for food. Or take the keyboard out and put it on the desk. You could take the mouse out and put it in the desk but in my opinion that feels awkward. This drawer was easy enough to install, once I figured it out. There were virtually no instructions included which seems to be a trend these days in many products needing assembly. I can only say that if you need a keyboard drawer and have no other option, this one works fine.I rest my elbows on my desk/keyboard tray a lot while working at the computer. It almost lasted one year before I broke it. Snapped/cracked right in the middle since it's made of plastic and my version was pretty hollow on the bottom of the slide tray.If you do not lean on your desk/keyboard tray, this will do well for you. The height adjustment and depth of the clamps for various desks were great. In the end, I bought another sturdier tray that was solid throughout.I have lady hands. Normal, 5'7" lady-sized hands. Even on the lowest setting (for the largest hands), this thing rubs my knuckles on the underside of the desk. There's 2 models that are somewhat in the same price range and are designed to hold both the keyboard and mouse. I picked this one, since there are are 4 points where the drawer is screwed to the desk, therefore offering more stability and can probably withstand higher amount of weight on the long term! The installation was easy and I'm more than happy with the purchase! One word of advice, just make sure your desk is thick enough so that the screws don't go through! Any other models are just 2-3 times more expensive. For my needs, this model is perfect! All the parts of the tray are cheaply made and the system does not adapt to the Microsoft Natural Keyboard - too high. We had to add extension to make it work. Also, they tray does not glide in and out smoothly. It is also $20 cheaper at Walmart. Go figure! I trusted Amazon to have the best price available. Lesson learned!Returning it is definitely the best option for me, but I did not keep the boxes and need a tray now (because of shoulder and neck problems) so unsure how long it will take me to find a replacement.
